@Calbyr As aforementioned, it is an occupation. As such, it is not, as you say, unconstitutional. (And, pretty sure that they knew we were coming.) Totalitarian government is exactly what they had before we got there. Now they have successful elections. Okay sure, let’s just pull out — but the country will go to civil war.

You believe we should force another country to our beliefs? What if Russia came over here during our crisis and forced us into a totalitarian government? @tearsandrainx You believe Iraq is a democracy? Open you eyes, America is hardly a democracy anymore. We have a president that can usurp the power of congress through “signing statements” that is no democracy it is only the illusion of one. America once lead freedom by the power of it’s example, now we lead by an example of our power. We have lost our way as a free nation where are rights are given up in the name of protecting them. Makes no sense to give your rights up to protect them does it?
Yes, it is currently an occupation, however we first invaded Iraq which is an act of WAR which requires a declaration of war that we did not have.
It’s not a war. It’s an occupation. It’s simply been deemed the Iraq “War” (meaning: it’s not technically a war since wars, as you so aptly point out, need to be declared). If you want to talk about the unconstitutionality of something, look at the bailouts, stimulus package, and health care reform.

Technically it’s not unconstitutional because Congress gave the OK. And by progress, I am referring to the fact that Iraq is now a democracy. Democracy in the Middle East is a VERY good thing. There’s not enough of it over there.
